Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, Safeguarding involves:

  • protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
  • preventing harm to children’s health or development
  • ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.

As an Early Years/ childcare provider, you are in an unique position to help safeguard children. Their regular attendance and the relationships you build with the children and their families enables you to identify concerns early and take action to keep children safe and support their well-being.

These documents have been created to help you fulfil  the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements and ensure children are kept safe.

More guidance on Safeguarding can be found on the North Somerset Children’s Partnership Website

You can download a copy of our North Somerset Safeguarding Procedure for Early Years and Play Providers plus addendum in the Early Years section

If you are looking for support for a parent who is experiencing Domestic Abuse, there is support and advice available on the Next Link website
