You’ll support seven people with profound and multiple learning disabilities in a home in Weston-super-Mare, easily accessible from the M5. You’ll get to build relationships with the individuals you support, play a big part in improving the quality of their lives and see the results of your support. There are no waking nights and full-time and part-time roles are available.

We’ll support your CPD and Revalidation, your learning needs and clinical practice through training, our internal clinical network and external networks. You can also undertake study for further qualifications and if you're newly qualified we offer a preceptorship programme. 

About the role

The individuals require 24 hour nursing support, and are also supported to access their community. Leading by example, you'll run shifts, manage support workers and support the health needs of the individuals. You’ll work closely with other professionals to develop safe systems of working and achieve the best possible outcomes. You’ll also ensure that individuals receive health care and treatment consistent with their Health Action Plan and Care Plans.

This is a full or part-time position of 22.5 up to 37.5 hours a week is available, shift patterns include approximately one sleep in per week if you are full time (no waking nights) so pro rata for part-time, and a mix of earlies, lates and long days, and we’re happy to discuss shift options with you.

About you

You’ll have a nursing qualification with current NMC registration, RNLD, RMN or ENLD, and demonstrable experience of working with people with a learning disability.

Able to foster a positive team-working environment, you can inspire your team. Resilient, confident and calm under pressure, you'll also be flexible, open to a challenge and innovative in your approach.

A full driving licence is desirable.

About the role

In one service you’ll support five gentlemen who lead very busy lives. Days are often active, fun and always brings something refreshingly different. In another we have roles supporting two busy young ladies. One communicates through her behaviour and the other individual is non-verbal; it’s a particularly rewarding time as she discovers new ways to communicate using eye gaze technology.

We also have roles supporting three young, sociable men to achieve their goal to live as independently as possible. You’ll support in daily living; they have jobs, play football, do sports and socialise.

Learning disabilities and autism affect people in different ways so the role is very varied. You’ll build professional relationships based on trust, respect and understanding.

Your day will involve supporting the individuals with everyday tasks, for example cooking, cleaning their home and managing finances. You’ll also support with personal care and medication needs. 

About you

You’re considerate, committed and respect people’s differences. Empathetic, you adapt your approach to individuals’ needs, have good communication skills and a positive, patient approach. You come up with creative solutions to overcome challenges and have a ‘can-do’ attitude. You’ll need to be flexible and able to work shifts including weekends and evenings/nights, as the role includes a 24/7 rota. It’s also essential that you have a full driving licence.

Full-time support workers for this role work 37.5 hours plus one sleep-in a week (pay for these sleep-ins is included in the annual salary of £21,555 - £21,965 pa.)

About the role

In one service you’ll support five gentlemen who lead very busy lives. Days are often active, fun and always brings something refreshingly different. In another we have roles supporting two busy young ladies. One communicates through her behaviour and the other individual is non-verbal; it’s a particularly rewarding time as she discovers new ways to communicate using eye gaze technology.

We also have roles supporting three young, sociable men to achieve their goal to live as independently as possible. You’ll support in daily living; they have jobs, play football, do sports and socialise.

Learning disabilities and autism affect people in different ways so the role is very varied. You’ll build professional relationships based on trust, respect and understanding.

Your day will involve supporting the individuals with everyday tasks, for example cooking, cleaning their home and managing finances. You’ll also support with personal care and medication needs. 

About you

You’re considerate, committed and respect people’s differences. Empathetic, you adapt your approach to individuals’ needs, have good communication skills and a positive, patient approach. You come up with creative solutions to overcome challenges and have a ‘can-do’ attitude. You’ll need to be flexible and able to work shifts including weekends and evenings/nights, as the role includes a 24/7 rota. It’s also essential that you have a full driving licence.

Full-time support workers for this role work 37.5 hours plus one sleep-in a week (pay for these sleep-ins is included in the annual salary of £21,555 - £21,965 pa.)

You have the option of working additional hours (£9.69 - £9.90 p/h) or sleep-ins (£50-70 per extra sleep-in) in a range of services.
