u3a is short for ‘university of the third age’. In reality it has nothing to do with ‘university’ but is an organisation, designed to provide opportunities for people to be actively engaged within their communities by meeting people and trying out new activities. The organisation is open to everyone who is approaching, or has reached, retirement age. If you’ve recently moved to the area, it’s an easy and enjoyable way to meet new people.
The u3a organisation is divided into many different area’s country wide. The Woodspring area includes towns like Backwell, Clevedon, Nailsea, Portishead, Wrington, Yatton and many other surrounding towns and villages.
U3a welcomes new members and all the energy and ideas they bring with them. We’re always looking to increase the list of activities on offer and people willing to run them. We also need people who just want to come along, take part and have fun.
Activities include solo groups, current affairs, music, arts, book clubs, games, cinema, creative writing, languages, lunch clubs, and online learning to name a few.
Further information about activities can be found on the Woodspring u3a website. https://u3asites.org.uk/woodspring/home
We hope you’ll give u3a a try.
