Local offer

Description

We are a 1 level setting with ramp access to various parts of the open plan building. We offer a disabled toilet and shower cubical on site. We have experience and training for dealing with children who are PEG fed and also experience of children with mild to complex needs. Some staff have good knowlege of makaton signing and have had experience of using PECS boards.

Staff work very closely with parents of children with additional needs and ensure they are included in all the decision making regarding funding and the care thier child receives. Our current SENCO is Tia Broad and she ensures that all children with additional needs are getting the support they require.

Our SEND policy is in line wit the Special Educational Needs & Disability code of practice 0-25yrs and the Equality act 2010. When planning staff respond to childrens diverse learning needs. Children will always have support to help them ecomplish even their most difficult tasks. The aims of our policy are to:

  • Support the early identification of children's needs and early intervention to support them
  • Focus on inclusive practice and removing barriers to learning
  • Provide high quality provision to meet the needs of all children
  • Create an environment that meets the Special Educational Needs of each child
  • Ensure that the provision for Secial Educational Needs follow a graduated approach of assess, plan, do and review
  • Make clear the expectations of all partners in the process
  • Identify the roles and responsabilities of staff in planning for children's special educational needs
  • Use the settings' best endeavours for children's access to the setting
  • Ensure that parents are able to play their part in supporting their child's education
