Pregnant women, women with a child under 12 months and children aged from six months to four years who are receiving Healthy Start vouchers are entitled to free Healthy Start vitamins.
Healthy Start vitamins contain the appropriate amount of recommended vitamins A, C and D for children aged from six months to four years, and folic acid and vitamins C and D for pregnant and breastfeeding women. The vitamins are suitable for vegetarians and free from milk, egg, gluten, soya and peanut residues. For more information see https://www.healthystart.nhs.uk/healthy-start-vouchers/healthy-start-vitamins/.
If you are eligible for free vitamins you will need to complete an application form, which can be obtained from your midwifery or health visitor. Once you are on the scheme, you will be sent a green vitamin coupon every eight weeks which you can swap for either Healthy Start women’s vitamin tablets or Healthy Start childrens drops locally.
The vitamins can be obtained from the health visiting service when a Child Health Clinic is running, or anytime from any North Somerset childrens centre. See download section for current times and locations you can pick up the vitamins.
