Buddy Scheme

Due to COVID-19 the Buddy scheme is temporarily not running.

The Buddy Scheme is designed to provide a service to children and young people with a wide range of additional needs and to support them in accessing social and leisure activities in the community, for example youth clubs, shopping trips and after school clubs.

Buddies are often young people who have been recruited from local schools, colleges and universities. They have usually worked as a volunteer/Buddy at our specialist play schemes during the school holidays.  Once a Buddy has built up a relationship with a child or young person we can then link them to a child or young person who has met our criteria for a Buddy.

All Buddies receive training in child protection, safe care, and positive play as part of their induction and continuious professional development.  A DBS check and references are obtained and Buddies are selected through a safer recruitment process.
