I am an experienced outstanding registered childminder of over 20 years. I live with my husband and son in a quiet cul-de-sac in Wrington. We are within walking distance of the local preschool, primary school, park, and recreation ground. The A38 is approximately 1 mile away and the A370 is approximately 2 miles away. I care for children from the age of 6 months to the end of primary school age.
I childmind all year round apart from statutory and family holidays. I hold the following certificates:
NVQ Level 3 CCLD
Makaton
Introducing P Scales
EYFS
Enabling Positive Behaviour
Safeguarding Children
Paediatric First Aid
Certificate of Excellence from Weston College
Attended Courses on : Supporting Children to think Critically and be Active and Creative Learners, Inclusion – Line Programme, ‘Autistic Spectrum Disorder’, Quality improvement, Observations, Assessment and Planning Workshop.
I have experience of working with a child with Special Needs for 3 years.
The children enjoy chosing a wide range of activities and resources I have to offer. Some activities are planned and other play is freely chosen. There are resources for all ages. I plan appropriately according to children’s ages, abilities and needs. The children have a play room, and a quiet room for resting and I have a cot for the young children needing sleep.
When parents/carers visit my setting, I am able to show them a book with photographs of all the different type of activities we may do. The children are all very happy and settled in my care and home, and have developed positive relationships with myself and the other children, improving their confidence self esteem and development. I am aware every child is unique and plan for their needs accordingly. I keep a learning journal for every child under the age of 5 until they reach the end of foundation stage. The child’s progress is recorded in this and enables me to continually develop the children and provide the very best for their needs and for the parents to have an ongoing record of their child’s progress.
Some of the activities and things we do are:-
Outdoor play in a safe and secure garden, including: slide, swingball, water play, paddling pool., hide and seek, building with giant lego, painting, colouring, etc.
We also go on local walks to the park, toddler group, action zone, meeting with other childminders and their children and children’s activity centres.
Here are some of the things we may do indoors:
Arts and crafts, building blocks, marble run, painting, colouring, magnetic shapes, reading stories/books, matching puzzles, sorting, ICT skills, hama beads, dressing up, singing, musical instruments, games, jigsaws, TV in the quiet room for those wishing to rest and the list goes on. There is something for every age. The toy boxes are clearly labelled with photographs to help children to communicate what they would like to play with. I encourage all children to tidy up, learn boundaries and encourage safety. Children are given clear boundaries of what is expected of them and how to treat other children.
We regularly practise fire drills, and practise crossing the road safety on a daily basis, and children are taught about using equipment safely. I have policies and procedures in place for parents to look at before a child attends here.
I was delighted to be awarded ‘Outstanding’ on my Ofsted inspection ( a copy of which I would be more than pleased to show you).
Finally, I can provide references from other parents/carers, about how pleased and happy they are with the childcare I provide. I have built up my business through recommendation.
I welcome visits if you are interested in childcare for the future, with prior appointment.
