Local offer

Description

Learning and development

Systems and strategies I have in place to identify children that may require additional support

Regular observation and assessment of each individual child to identify any areas where they may need additional support.

How I identify and support children's learning and development needs

Areas for development are identified through observation and assessment. Childrens 'next steps' are identified and children are supported to achieve them through planned activities and communication with parents.

Links I have to other agencies

Links with other agencies are made when necessary to support the learning and development and well being of the child. This might include the Speech and Language service or Portage.

How I support children transferring to school

Children are helped to develop their personaI, emotional, social and physical skills to prepare them for school. They are helped to be independent in self-care, learn how to negotiate with others and take turns and are introduced to early literacy and numeracy through fun activities. I hold transition meetings with teachers and invite them to the setting. I share the child's Learning Journey and assessments with the teachers to help them make a smooth transition.

Welfare

Specialist skills or training

I keep up to date with all courses including, First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding. I am committed to continous professional development for the benefit of children in my care.

Support I offer regarding children's health and well-being

Children are taught good hygiene practices from an early age and understand why it is important to keep clean. I talk about brushing teeth and good dental hygiene. I offer nutritionally balanced meals.

Ways I inform parents about how their child is being supported

Parents are spoken to daily to give a verbal summary about their child's day and how they have been supported. In addition to this, a daily diary for under 3's is filled out giving details of sleep, food, milk and toilet training/nappies. Every half term parents recieve a progress report, observations, assessments and next steps.

Access

A ramp could be fitted for a wheelchair.

How I include all children in activities, such as trips

All children are included in outings. All visits are risk assessed beforehand. Any activities offered can be adapted to all children.
