Having a comprehensive counselling-based training, together with cognitive behavior and play therapy means I can tailor treatments to suit each individual child or young person.
This type of counselling is for any child or young person (4-18 years) who is experiencing difficulties - whether it's a mental health concern or a problem relating to family or school/college.
Older children and teenagers have felt much happier after talking through how they feel, and as result have found it easier to cope with with their problems. Younger children have found creative art and play a good way to explore their thoughts and feelings in a comfortable space and similarly this helps them to manage their difficulties.
For all ages part of this is because the therapy environment provides a safe place that is quite separate from their daily lives. My background includes a special interest in Attachment Parenting and the effect of early years experiences on long-term mental health, together with many years of being involved with working with children and young people in a variety of settings.
My qualifications include a Diploma in Integrated Psychotherapeutic Counselling and Certificates in Play Therapy, Children’s Counselling, Anti-Bullying and Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
In addition, I have a continued commitment to training and keeping up-to-date with the latest research in child mental health. I am insured and hold a current DBS check. Initial assessments are free of charge.
