Oviva diabetes support

A 12 week programme for people living with type 2 diabetes who would prefer one-to-one specialist support, and for those who normally would require a translator.

The programme offers a range of support using a blended approach of self-led learning via an app and personalised coaching from a Diabetes Specialist Coach. This programme is able to support people in a range of community languages, and aims to help people to learn more about their condition and to support long lasting lifestyle and behaviour change.

Type 2 diabetes Peer Support

If you have type 2 diabetes, Brigstowe’s peer mentor service can help you take control of your health.

Their peer mentors also have type 2 diabetes and want to meet with you to share their own experience of living with the condition. They will provide you with information and support to help you learn more about diabetes and live well.

You can meet with the same mentor weekly who will:

  • Listen to the challenges or obstacles you may have
  • Share their own experiences with you of what has helped them
  • Provide you with information about type 2 diabetes
  • Support you to identify goals and work towards them together
  • Our mentors can offer both in–person* and online support.

*Due to COVID-19 restrictions and to keep all mentors and mentees safe we will be providing support digitally through online video chats, which you will have full support to access. Our aim is to also reintroduce in-person mentoring as soon as we can in line with government guidelines and our own risk assessment.
