Schools Extended Local Offer Response

How does the setting/school/college know if children/young people need extra help and what should I do if I think my child/young person may have special educational needs?

We are experienced in working with children and we are able to identify early on any children who may have additional needs and who we may need to refer them to. We will also support parents/carers.

How will early years setting/school/college staff support my child/young person?

All children learn and respond to experiences in different ways, all children will have a key person who will plan for their needs and experiences. Early Years practitioners will also ask the child's parent for information about the children who attend our preschool.

How will the curriculum be matched to my child's young person's needs?

We plan around children's needs, interests and fascinations.

How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child's/young person's learning?

We will support all children to reach their full potential and all parents will be informed of their child's progress at parents evening and daily handovers.

What support will there be for my child's/young person's overall well being?

All children are cared for in a safe, caring environment with experienced staff.

What specialist services and expertise are avaliable at or accessed by the setting/school/college

Early Years practitioners have worked with lots of different children over the years, we have had children with medical conditions and special needs. We have also worked alongside other professionals to support those children.

What training are the staff supporting children and young people with SEND have had or are having?

Early Years practitioners update their training and attend courses to enable them to support children where it is needed.

How will my child/young person be included in activities outside this classroom including school trips?

We are inclusive so all children are always included.

How accessible is the setting/school/college enviroment

We have access to our building, but our outdoor area is down steps.

How will the seting/school/college prepare and support my child/young person to join the setting/school/college or the next stage of education and life

We work with local primary school teachers to ensure all of our children have a smooth transition to school.

How are the seting's/school's/college's resources allocated and matched to children's/young people's special educational needs?

We assess all children and then make sure our resources meet their needs, we would also need to see if we would be able to staff this if extra staff were needed.

How is the decision made about what type and how much support my child/young person will recieve?

Where some children have a high level of need we would seek out support from springboard opportunity group if we felt more specialized support was needed.

How are parents involved in he setting/school/college? How can I be involved?

Parents are always consulted and included in our setting we value their input and help.
